Southwell Ramblers head to the Cotswolds
Southwell Ramblers enjoyed an autumn mini break in the Cotswolds in October 2024, staying at Harrington House hotel in Bourton-on-the-Water. All walks began from the hotel, which was a welcome convenience, although some routes had to be changed due to flooded paths. For our leg stretcher before dinner on our first day, we strolled around Bourton, exploring riverside paths, lakes, a nature reserve, and notable buildings.

On day two, members had the choice of an eleven-mile circular walk from Bourton to Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter, and Naunton, returning via the Windrush Way, or a shorter route was provided as an alternative.

Day three involved a walk east along the Oxfordshire Way to Wyck Rissington and Icomb, with a shorter alternative available again.

On day four, we embarked on a long walk west along Windrush Way through Harford, Aylworth, Notgrove, and Cold Aston. A shorter walk took some members south along the Diamond Way to Clapton-on-the-Hill. On day four the group was treated to the perfect weather for walking.
