Our 2022 Autumn walking holiday was to the South Downs and we were blessed with beautiful walking weather. During our walks we had fine views south to the coast at Worthing and Brighton, also north to the North Downs across the Weald.
The holiday got off to a great start on Tuesday with two options: Christine organised a 6-mile route round Bignor Hill whilst Peter took a party of 10 from Kithurst Hill to Burpham.

Dinah led a circular walk on Wednesday from the hotel to the village of West Chiltington with its fine 13th-century church and wall paintings. Meanwhile, Sandy led a group on a circular walk through the parishes of Upper Beeding, Fulking and Poynings, returning on the high ground via Devil’s Dyke, Edburton Hill and Truleigh Hill.

Thursday’s walk was from Findon onto the South Downs Way and Monarch’s Way to visit the ancient hill forts of Chanctonbury Ring and Cissbury Ring, led by Dave whilst another group visited Arundle and Arundle Estate.
